MORPH Project Launch
|
The Official launch of the MORPH (Management of Risks and Practices in Healthcare) project took place on Thursday 4th April, 2002. Project consortium partners from across Europe were in attendance at the launch. Also attending were members of the legal profession, members of indemnity organisations, medical practitioners, hospital risk managers and Dr. Caroline Hussey, Registrar, UCD. The project launch took place at the Hibernian United Services Club in Dublin and was well received by all in attendance, including members of the medical, legal and insurance bodies.

INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE
|
The second MORPH Project consortium meeting was hosted by the
University of Dundee, Scotland on 4 th -6 th September. The two-day
meeting was attended by all of MORPH partners The Lord Provost,
Mr John Letford hosted an evening reception to welcome the
MORPH consortium to Dundee and commented on the importance of
such a project for the healthcare sector in Scotland and throughout
the UK.

The third MORPH project meeting was hosted by the Healthcare
Association in Bansko, Bulgaria and the consortium were honoured
to have the presence of Dr Petko Salchev Bulgaria's Deputy Health
Minister for comments.
The fourth consortium was hosted by the
Foundation for Promotion of
Entrepreneurship in Lodz, Poland. The
two day event incorporated a seminar
and workshop that was attended by
over 70 medical practitioners.
Presenters included Dr Ewa Sadowska-Kowalska,
President of the Board,
Foundation for Promotion of
Entrepreneurship and Senior Lecturer at
the University of Lodz, who spoke about
the MORPH partnership and about how MORPH aims to provide the
healthcare sector in Poland many benefits.

RISK 2003, LONDON – Keynote Address
|
|
Haaris Sheikh, Managing Director Interesource Group (Ireland) Limited and Asim Sheikh,
Division of Legal Medicine were invited to deliver the Keynote Address at Risk 2003 in
November 2003 in London. This annual event is attended by delegates from the medical
and legal profession in the UK and this year’s event attracted as many as 280 delegates.
The paper was entitled Clinical Risk Management in Ireland & UK: A Glimpse of the
Status Quo and discussed the aims and objectives of the MORPH project followed by a
presentation of the preliminary findings of the Irish and UK survey results.
